"I had a little urgent thing to do, remove the old license plates, but it was stuck. I drove by lunchtime and they were nice enough to tell me come back at 1:30 and we will take care of you. Say hello to Sabrina, our ASE Certified Service Consultant and Service Manager—and one of the first friendly faces you'll see at Wayside Garage! Born and raised in Monterey, Sabrina is a hometown girl with a passion for people, cars, and great service. Her positive attitude, contagious smile, and strong work ethic make her a key part of our team.

Sabrina grew up around the shop, spending years learning the ins and outs of both the office and the service bays. Her hands-on experience means she’s just as comfortable helping at the front counter as she is assisting with inspections and services out in the shop. Don’t let her size fool you—she’s mighty, knowledgeable, and always ready to jump in where needed.

Outside of work, Sabrina is a vintage Bronco enthusiast. One of her Broncos is being built for shows, while the other is her go-to for daily drives and off-road adventures.

Jonathan

Jonathan has always had a natural curiosity for how things work. Not long after high school, he started his career maintaining and repairing lawn equipment at a local golf course—quickly discovering that fixing machines was more than just a job; it was a passion. That passion led him into the automotive industry, where he began working on European and import vehicles.

Since joining the team at Wayside Garage, Jonathan has expanded his expertise to include domestic, hybrid, and electric vehicles. He recently earned his ASE Master Technician certification, along with the prestigious Advanced Level L3 Certification as a Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist—an achievement held by fewer than 3,100 technicians nationwide.

Known for his upbeat personality, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality, Jonathan takes great pride in his work. He’s always learning and stays on top of industry advancements to ensure our customers receive the highest level of service and care.

Sam

Since childhood, Sam has had a passion for fixing cars. He grew up wrenching alongside his older brother in the garage—learning how to tear down engines, make repairs, and put them back together with care and precision. That early passion grew into a lifelong career in automotive repair.

Sam began his professional journey as a lube technician at a local Chevrolet dealership, eventually earning his General Motors certification and gaining extensive experience with GM, Cadillac, and Toyota vehicles. After time in both dealership and independent shops, he made a full-time commitment to Wayside Garage—and has been a cornerstone of the team ever since.

With over 40 years of hands-on experience and 25 years as an ASE Master Certified Technician, Sam brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a customer-first mindset to every repair.

When he's not in the shop, Sam enjoys off-roading—especially rock crawling in his Busted Knuckle Off-Road Buggy—camping, boating, hunting, and spending quality time with his family.

Stacey

Stacey began her journey at Wayside Garage as a teenager, helping out in the office and learning the business side-by-side with her father. Over the past 38 years, she has developed a deep passion for educating customers about the importance of preventative maintenance and vehicle care. With hands-on experience and a natural ability to explain complex repairs in simple terms, Stacey has become a trusted voice for clients throughout the Monterey Peninsula.

After her father’s retirement, she and her husband proudly took the reins to carry on the family legacy. Stacey is an ASE Certified Service Consultant and holds certification in Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair. She stays actively engaged in the ever-evolving automotive industry through continued education and leadership.

Stacey was recognized as a 2024 Ratchet + Wrench All-Star Award runner-up and was recently named to Marquis Who’s Who for her contributions to the industry. She also serves as a board member for the Monterey Peninsula College Automotive Technology Program, helping to guide and support the next generation of technicians.

Alex M

Alex has been passionate about cars from a young age, starting out by tinkering in the garage and lending a hand with tractor repairs when needed. He spent time in the automotive detailing world before completing a two-year apprenticeship, building a strong foundation in diagnostics and repair. Alex brings a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a genuine thirst for knowledge to the Wayside Garage team. He’s a true team player who’s always ready to take on the next challenge. When he’s not under the hood, Alex enjoys spending time with his kids and hitting the road on his Harley-Davidson.

Marcus

Marcus is one of our most experienced technicians, with decades of hands-on knowledge spanning from classic carbureted engines to today’s advanced electronic systems. He specializes in older vehicles and brings sharp diagnostic skills to every job. Marcus is ASE Certified and is currently working toward renewing his Smog Technician license. Outside the shop, he enjoys restoring vintage Schwinn bicycles, building and racing RC cars, and spending quality time with his kids and his collection of classic Datsuns.

Alan

Alan brings decades of hands-on experience and specialized knowledge to the Wayside Garage team. With a strong background in transmission repairs, Chrysler dealer training, and deep diagnostic skills, he’s earned his place as one of our most trusted ASE Master Certified Technicians.

Alan is also one of only 3,082 technicians nationwide to hold the ASE L3 Advanced Level Certification for Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialists. He believes in the importance of lifelong learning and passing on knowledge to the next generation of technicians. As a dedicated mentor, Alan plays a key role in guiding and developing our younger team members.

With his passion for the automotive industry and his genuine care for both vehicles and people, Alan is a vital part of the Wayside Garage family.

Brandon

Meet Brandon! While he didn’t start his career in the automotive world, Brandon has spent the last four years learning the industry from the inside out—and he's become an essential part of the Wayside Garage family. A former client himself, Brandon understands firsthand the importance of trustworthy auto care and outstanding service.

With a background in the high-end golf industry, he brings a strong hospitality mindset to the shop. Whether he’s handling shuttle service, coordinating concierge pick-ups and drop-offs, or performing final quality control checks, Brandon’s focus is always on creating a smooth, positive experience for our clients.

Outside of work, Brandon enjoys playing adult league softball and spending time with his fiancée, Samantha Diaz. He’s always ready with a smile and a helping hand—so don’t hesitate to say hello when you stop by!

Shelley McDonald

Say hello to Shelley! While she may be a new face to some, Shelley has been part of the Wayside Garage family for years. As our Customer Service Representative, she’s your go-to for follow-ups, reservation confirmations, and helping you stay on track with your vehicle’s maintenance plan.

A proud Salinas native, Shelley brings heart, hustle, and genuine care to every customer interaction. She loves connecting with clients after their service visits and takes pride in making sure you and your vehicle are well taken care of.

Outside the shop, Shelley enjoys spending time with her family, caring for her animals, and driving her trucks. With Shelley, you’re not just another name on the schedule—you’re part of the family.

Abraham

Raised at the iconic Esalen Institute in Big Sur, Abraham grew up surrounded by nature, community, and creativity. With a degree in Biology and Psychology from UW–Madison, he's a lifelong learner who blends scientific insight with hands-on problem-solving.

Abraham has worn many hats—high school science teacher, football coach, surf instructor, and radio surf report host. He brings that same energy and dedication to the shop, where his lifelong passion for cars meets real mechanical skill.

A proud father of two, Abraham values family, curiosity, and hard work above all. Whether he's tuning an engine or teaching someone to catch their first wave, he leads with heart and purpose.

KC

Hi, I’m KC! I’ve been passionate about working on cars for as long as I can remember—ever since I moved in with my dad at age 8 and started helping him out in the garage. That early hands-on experience turned into a lifelong love for the trade.

When I’m not under the hood, you’ll probably find me enjoying the great outdoors. I love hunting, fishing, and relaxing around a campfire with good food, a cold beer, and great company. BBQing is one of my favorite pastimes, and nothing beats a weekend spent with my wife and son—they’re my world and the reason I do what I do.

Whether it's fixing vehicles or firing up the grill, I take pride in doing things right and bringing a smile to those around me.

Rick

I'm Rick, a proud Monterey native with deep family roots in the area. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy—traveling across Asia and the Middle East—I returned home ready for my next chapter and discovered a true passion for automotive work.

That spark came while I was still in the military. My car needed repairs, but I couldn’t afford to take it to a shop—so I rolled up my sleeves and figured it out myself. That hands-on experience gave me a sense of pride and satisfaction that stuck with me. I’ve been hooked ever since.

I'm a graduate of Universal Technical Institute and the Ford FACT program, and I've been working professionally on cars for the past four years. I’m always learning, always improving, and I take real pride in doing things right.

When I’m not in the shop, I love driving along scenic coastal roads and spending time with my four younger siblings. Family means everything to me, and I bring that same dedication and care into my work every day.

Jacob

Jacob brings a strong passion for both cars and technology—making him a perfect fit for our modern, high-tech service and repair facility. A proud local, Jacob grew up in Marina and spent his youth playing baseball with Marina Pony Baseball and Marina High.

In addition to his love for the automotive world, Jacob is a devoted dog dad. He shares his free time with his playful Frenchie, Otis, and his lovable English Bulldog, Purple Rain.
